Houston has won four straight games for the first time in franchise history. Now the goal is to stretch that streak to six and accomplish another first -- a winning record. Johnson leads Texans over Titans 13-12 (AP)

Sun, 2008-12-14 23:42

Never mind that they've already clinched the AFC South and a first-round playoff bye, the Tennessee Titans are miffed about their 13-12 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday. A letdown could be expected after securing their playoff spot last week, but a win against Houston and a Pittsburgh loss later Sunday would have secured home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Texans Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

Sat, 2008-12-13 06:41

In a satisfying turning of the tables, Matt Schaub finished Sunday's game against Tennessee in the Texans' 13-12 victory at Reliant Stadium that lifted them back to .500 and ended a seven-game losing streak to the team that used to play next door in the Astrodome.

It would be Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth who got carted off the field and later opted not to comment on the day's surprising outcome. After Haynesworth's physical and verbal assaults of Schaub had become a mocking symbol of the one-sided AFC South rivalry, the Texans quarterback finally got in the last word.

Although the 12-2 Titans beat up Schaub, recording three sacks - the first forcing a fumble on Houston's opening possession - and numerous nasty shots to person, this time they couldn't beat...

Texans RB Slaton reaches 1,000 yards (AP)

Tue, 2008-12-09 00:28
The Houston Texans have a 1,000-yard rusher for the first time since 2004. It's not who most would have guessed during training camp. Steve Slaton, who was penciled in to be a third-down back, ran for 120 yards on Sunday to surpass the milestone. The rookie has 1,024 yards rushing this season. When Houston opened camp, no one in the organization envisioned Slaton starting this season.

Matt Schaub certainly didn't look like a guy whose knee wasn't healthy enough for him to play just six days ago. Schaub returned from a four-game absence to throw for a career-high 414 yards in the Houston Texans' 24-21 victory over the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on Sunday. He also led a final drive to set up Kris Brown's 40-yard field goal on the last play of the game.

NFL lifestyle includes money, fame -- and guns (AP)

Sat, 2008-12-06 17:10

Many NFL players shudder when they think about what Plaxico Burress is going through -- and what still awaits. Players across the league think about how difficult his life has become. They think about how much worse it could have been. And they think about how -- in a culture where athletes and guns seem to go together far too often -- it easily could have been them.
